HAVE YOU EVER TRIED BEING CONSISTENT?

Having been in the coaching game for about a decade now, I’d be rich if I had a nickel for every excuse I hear people make as to why they aren’t achieving their goals.

As humans, we are quick to deflect responsibility away from us when we realize that we are failing or coming up short. It’s uncommon that you’ll find people who are quick to take personal responsibility for their lack of results.

In an empathetic way - I get it. It’s really frustrating not seeing the fruit of your labor. That can be extremely discouraging.

But there’s something I want to bring attention to that you may be unaware of currently. Whether you recognize it or not, there’s a reason that you’re quick to jump ship when you aren’t seeing results happen.

You likely have an internal “I-need-to-see-progress-to-know-this-is-working” clock that begins every time you start a new diet or routine.

Your need to see instantaneous results gets in the way of you being able to stick to the program long-term. Your inability to be perfect causes you to feel defeated before you ever have a chance to see it through, which causes you to second guess your commitment, often times resulting in an abandonment of the plan.

Perfection is the enemy of progress.

It’s never going to be perfect. So don’t let imperfection derail you.

Unfortunately today, the internet will have you believe that there’s always a sexy new exercise you need to be trying, a new fat-burning supplement you need to be taking or a new, revolutionary diet that you need to be doing.

This makes it even easier to think “ya know what, maybe I’m just not doing the right thing.” This is the ultimate distraction from what really matters.

Often times, it’s not WHAT you’re doing, but HOW you do it.

A lot of people today “try out” a diet/exercise program and likely never stick with it for longer than a month.

So let me ask you… “Have you ever tried being consistent?”

Humans likely never stick to a plan long enough to see the benefit from it.

Fitness does not happen overnight. It’s playing the long-game. If you’re looking at fitness as a gateway to six pack abs in 6 months, you’re being fooled, my friend.

Fitness isn’t meant to be daily entertainment.

Fitness isn’t all about perspiring everywhere and getting your daily dopamine fix.

Fitness isn’t some complex algorithm.

As a society, we need to place a bigger emphasis on the importance of remaining consistent & sticking to the basics when it comes to health & wellness.

When you look at people who are healthy and successful - they all have things in common:

  • They’re disciplined.

  • They’re consistent.

  • They appreciate the simplicity over the flash.

  • They do the common uncommonly well.

A quote that has always stayed with me is from Cory G, on of my fitness idols. He put it this way:

“I don’t do anything special, I just don’t miss.”

As Logan Gelbrich and Duece gym commonly say:

Get involved. Trust the process. & Keep going.
